While many categories of advanced nurses have been trained to provide these and many other care services, other laws and regulations [such as. Known as the Healing Art Identification Act, Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 104 deals with the use of the term physician. All nurses must be aware of and comply with the Nursing Practice Act and Board`s Rules as well as all federal, state and local laws [Board Rule § 217.11 (1) (A)]. To comply with this law, a nurse must indicate the diploma allowing her to use the title of Doctor ___ as proof and to indicate the professional profession. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) must be identified as rn and use the Advanced Practice title authorized by the Board of Nursing. The treatment of acute pain with drugs provided through telemedicine services is permitted, unless otherwise prohibited by federal and state law. APRNs should be aware that acute pain is time-limited and relates to the normal, expected physiological response to a stimulus such as trauma, illness and surgical procedures. The APRN must be authorized to prescribe the controlled substance through a valid prescription authority agreement with a physician delegate and a recent DEA registration. APRNs must not prescribe controlled substances for chronic pain through telemedicine services unless federal or national law expressly authorizes this practice. Chronic pain is a condition in which pain persists beyond the usual course of an acute illness process or the healing of an injury and may be associated with a chronic pathological process that causes continuous or intermittent pain over a period of months or years.
In ambulatory anesthesia parameters, drugs and devices administered by an RNA providing anesthesia or anesthesia services are provided by the practical environment. Therefore, they are ordered by the surgeon for use in this parameter. Just like in the hospital or outpatient centre, the CRNA selects and administers medications and uses equipment in accordance with an anesthesia or service order related to anesthesia in this environment. Since the surgeon has provided the drugs and equipment necessary to provide anesthesia or anesthesia services, the CRNA does not have to have a prescription authority to do so. All parties are required to comply with laws and regulations relating to ordering, storing, wasting and tracking the use of drugs and devices within these parameters. Can I call myself APRN and/or use my Advanced Practice title if I have completed an APRN program and/or am nationally certified? Yes, provided that the prescription is issued for legitimate medical use by an APRN that issues the prescription for a legitimate medical purpose in the context of a patient-occupancy practitioner relationship, in accordance with the Texas Code, § 111.005. If an APRN licensed in another state plans to offer telemedicine services to a patient located in Texas, the APRN must hold an active Texas APRN license and an active Texas RN or RN care license, with multi-state privilege, from a state that is a party to the Nurse Licensure Compact. The APRN must meet all requirements for the medical delegation of authority to provide medical aspects of patient care and have a valid pre-regulatory authority agreement. AprN must comply with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, board rules, and all other federal and state laws if it provides services in this manner.
