The 14th round of negotiations was held in Brussels from 11 to 15 July 2016. The focus was on market access for business, digital trade, regulatory cooperation, energy and raw materials. The European Commission has proposed important additions to the chapter on sustainable development. With 800 million people, the transatlantic economy is the largest in the world. Together, the European Union and the United States account for nearly 50 per cent of world output, 40 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP), one third of trade in goods and services and nearly 60 per cent of world direct investment. Trade and services account for two billion euros a day. So far, two-track investments amount to nearly three trillion euros. . . .
